The Spillway at Lake 33
Sort of a hint from my latest book Lake 33 Killing Relic
“I saved the best for whenever you got out of prison,” said Buck.
I lifted the ceramic pot from the box, and a Native American warrior stared back at me. The slitted eyes and sewn-together mouth indicated the warrior was dead.
“The archaeologists think these pots were trophies to celebrate the killing of a powerful warrior or even the capture of the spirit. “This pot is probably haunted,” I said as a joke.
“Look at the eye tattoo on that jar,” said Buck, beaming with pleasure.
“And the pots were full of Cahokia arrowheads?” I asked.
So begins the odyssey to return home through a land ravaged by cancer, radioactive springs, and riddled with EPA Superfund Sites.
Near the giant Weldon Spring radioactive containment dome, an artifact hunter discovers a haunted cave with a cache of barrels from the Manhattan Project.
Authorities and collectors scramble to locate a priceless Native American artifact as terrorists set off a dirty bomb at a burning St. Louis landfill in an attempt to spread radioactive fallout and force the evacuation of the city.
All signs point to a USAF veteran trying to get home after years of war and time in prison.

This story is dedicated to all those who have suffered from radiation-caused cancer. It is dedicated to those who are currently battling this disease, to those who may be at risk, and to the unborn generations who may inherit the consequences of the Cold War and Manhattan Project.
Please consider in any book review of the subject matter, to add the names of your loved ones and friends lost to the radiation scourge.
Your role in spreading awareness about the sad subject of radiation-related cancer from the Manhattan Project and the uranium processing and radioactive waste storage during the Cold War is crucial. It deserves to be brought to everyone’s attention and, at the very least, spread awareness to keep children out of the contaminated areas.
Please consider joining one of the civic organizations promoting radiation awareness and environmental remediation.

Brave or stupid: I loaded 3/4 of the first draft on my website for review, along with all the grammar errors and plot problems. So many first draft obsticals.
But when you think about it, the idea is 'creating the story' and fix the problems on the re-write and 39 edits.
Across the net, I keep reading "Never post the first draft."
So maybe I will delete the page?
Brave or stupid? The chapters are loaded to Bruce Ryba Writing projects
Death head face pot.
Missouri and Arkansas have the most Native American death head face pots.
Most of these artifacts have closed eyes and sewn together lips suggesting the subject is dead.
Also most have a tattoo of the Ivory Billed Woodpecker near the eyes. ----I would love to hear the religious or cultural theory of why the Ivory Billed Woodpecker?
The dates of these vases, range from the middle Mississippian era to the De Soto invasions.
